Since the Biden administration took office, many people have reached out to us, concerned about the impact of taxes on their retirement and future wealth in the form of transferred inheritance. The current federal budget deficit is now $430 billion higher than it was last year. $90 billion of this increase is due to higher interest rates that have resulted, in part, from this administration’s drunken sailor spending spree.

As if things weren’t frightening enough, Joe Biden has proposed $4.7 trillion in new taxes to be collected over the next 10 years. In just the last few weeks, the government announced that over $45 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act is going to be spent to find tax revenue to cover what they term “the tax gap.”

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has expressed frustration that one of the proposed revenue options is to collect more tax from tips. This proposal seems at odds with the Biden campaign promise that there would be no new taxes imposed on anyone earning less than $400,000 a year. If they’re going after $1.6 billion of additional taxes from the tips of hard-working, average wage earners, it’s obvious that the government is looking to get taxes from anywhere they can get them.

Let me ask you a question, if the Biden administration is looking to collect more tax from the tips from hard-working, average wage earners, how do you think they view the trillions of dollars that are trapped in tax-deferred IRAs and 401(k)s? Let me teach you how to remove your tax-deferred retirement dollars from the tax system.

Al lives in Florida, Randy is from Colorado and Dave hails from Illinois. They were all looking for ways to reduce their taxable income, knowing that tax rates will be higher in the future. If you have tax-deferred retirement accounts and you are facing Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), you can get out in front of those higher tax-triggering RMDs by converting your traditional IRAs to Roth IRAs so that the RMDs don’t force you to pay higher taxes. If you qualify for the previously mentioned tax deduction, you can use it to offset the taxes that would normally be due on converting your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA.

For example, if you invest $100,000 in this vehicle, you create a $75,000, first year tax deduction. You could use this deduction to cover the tax liability on converting $75,000 of your traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. This way, you can use one section of the tax code to save and protect yourself from another section.

But remember, this investment is not just a tax-savings vehicle. Last year, it yielded over 15% net, cash on cash! This is a great way to eliminate or mitigate unnecessary tax while earning a strong return outside of Wall Street and keeping pace with inflation with rates that you can’t earn by keeping your cash in banks.
